The role
Every customer wants a different sensor on Scout. You will scope each integration with the customer, build it on the boat, prove it at sea and stay with the deployment until the data is flowing. You will work closely with the field engineering team and travel a lot.
What you will do
- Integrate customer sensors end to end: wiring, mounting, drivers, parsers and data output.
- Own the sensor software already on the boat: hydrophones, weather sensors, CTD chains, acoustic modems, cameras and AIS.
- Design and 3D print brackets, housings and cable guides in the workshop.
- Be the technical contact for the customer, on site and on the water.
- Deploy with the field engineering team in the UK and overseas.
What we are looking for
- 5+ years of working experience building integrations for sensors or instruments on embedded Linux.
- Solid software engineering in Python.
- Basic electronics: schematics, wiring, power, multimeter.
- Basic 3D printing and CAD.
- Good with customers and happy to travel often.
